It has been suggested that one of the ways to stay motivated when it comes to getting in shape or archiving your body goals is by being held accountable to someone else. This is why exercising with a friend or a group of friends can sometimes be a good motivator because you don’t want to look like the laziest of the group, right?
That being said, fitness tracker maker Fitbit has recently announced new community features that Fitbit users can look forward to. This comes in the form of Groups, which as the name suggests is about finding groups of people that might share similar fitness goals as you, whether it be about dieting, losing weight, bulking up, and so on.
According to Fitbit, “Within these groups, users can ask questions or share inspiration and updates, like exercise summaries, badges, trophies, and photos that are relevant to the group.” There will also be an updated Friends list where you can compete with your friends in terms of how many steps you’ve taken. You’ll be able to cheer them, message them, or even taunt them if you believe that they’re the kind of person who responds to such motivators.
Last but not least is the feed where users can post updates about their exercise and just like Facebook or other social media platforms, you will be able to comment on them. These feeds will also allow users to discover Fitbit Local workouts which are currently offered in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle.
