It seems that artificial intelligence features will soon become a big differentiating factor in the smartphone market, Samsung seems to think so, and no wonder why companies like Huawei, LG, Samsung, and even Apple are working hard to come up with their own set of AI-powered features and services. According to a new report, Apple is working on “enhanced Siri” capabilities for next-generation iPhones.
DigiTimes reports that companies like Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG, and Xiaomi are all hoping that improved AI assistant functionality will help drive smartphone growth in 2017. This obviously gives them an incentive to work in this field and came out with new innovations before their rivals.
As far as Apple is concerned, the Cupertino company is reportedly going to introduced an “enhanced Siri” with its next-generation iPhones. However, the report doesn’t make it clear whether the improved Siri will be part of the iPhone 8 that’s due later this year or if we’ll get to see it in the following year.
However, we can reasonably expect Apple to make some improvements to Siri and its functionality for the iPhone 8. Don’t forget that it’s the 10th anniversary of the iPhone this year and Apple is expected to go above and beyond with the iPhone 8.
It merits mentioning here that Apple acquired Turi, a machine learning and AI startup, last year. It’s claimed that Apple acquired this company to further strengthen the functionality of its digital personal assistant as well as its market share over rivals like Amazon Alexa and Microsoft Cortana.
