Following the runaway success of Deadpool in 2016 which not only did wonders for the R-rated movie category, but also allowed set the precedence of a successful R-rated superhero movie, safe to say that many are excited to see if Deadpool 2 will be able to replicate that success even with the movie’s original director Tim Miller no longer part of the project.
Unfortunately we might still have a bit of waiting to do because according to a report from MTV, it seems that filming of the movie has not even begun yet. Speaking to MTV’s Josh Horowitz at the Golden Globes red carpet event over the weekend, Ryan Reynolds revealed that they are still working on it.
According to Reynolds, “We’re still working on it. We’re not going to start until we’re ready.” It also seems that another reason for the holdup is because they are still looking for the right person to take up the role of Cable. Prior to this Kyle Chandler was someone that Miller had originally suggested, but apparently Reynolds had the power to approve casting choices which led to him vetoing Miller’s decision (which some say led to Miller leaving the movie).
In the meantime David Leitch, who was one of the directors of John Wick and who will be producing John Wick 2, has taken up the new role of director. There is still no word on when Deadpool 2 will be released, but here’s hoping they’ll be able to find and cast the right Cable soon.
