The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are similar in more ways than one aside from the fact that the latter is larger and exclusively offers the dual-camera setup. Apple may not have included the dual-camera setup on the iPhone 7 due to a shortage of space but it appears to have paid handsome dividends for the company. According to a new report, the iPhone 7 Plus has accounted for 40 percent of all iPhone 7 sales.
The Wall Street Journal cites sales estimates by Cowen & Co which suggest that the iPhone 7 Plus has accounted for 40 percent of all iPhone sales. Higher sales for the more expensive model results in higher revenue for the company so it works out nicely for Apple.
Therefore, it’s claimed that Apple is likely to continue feature differentiation between smaller and larger iPhone models in the years to come as market performance shows that customers are willing to pay more for a product if it offers slightly better features.
If that really is the case, then we should be prepared to see some sort of feature differentiation between the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus due later this year in the fall. Just what that differentiation will be remains to be seen because not much is known about the next-generation iPhone’s features at this point in time.
