Xperia Z5 Black_groupIf you are looking to get your hands on the latest Android Nougat update for your Sony Xperia handset, you’ll be pleased to learn that Sony has started to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for both the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Premium handsets, and it is expected that more devices should be added to the list later.

The Sony Xperia XZ actually got the Nougat update earlier, but we guess since it was a newer handset Sony decided to give it the update first, although this rollout clearly shows that Sony is not neglecting some of its older models. According to Xperia Blog, the rollout of the update for the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium is currently for select variants of the phone.

This means that depending on where you stay and which market you are in, you might not be able to expect the update yet, but it probably won’t be too long until it finds its way to you. Those who bought the phone via carriers might also encounter some delay as the update will need to go through the carrier approval process first.

In the meantime Sony has previously announced that they will be reducing their focus on the Indian, Chinese, and US markets. This probably means that we shouldn’t expect too many Sony phones arriving in those markets in the near future, but we’ll see what MWC has in store for us all the same.
