This means that if you’d rather not subscribe to Amazon Prime and gain access to Amazon Video, not to worry as this standalone subscription will take care of all your anime needs. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Paull, VP digital video at Amazon said, “There wasn’t an offering that’s been made available in other platforms that would meet our customers’ needs,” in regards to a dedicated anime channel.
As it stands there are such services out there, such as Crunchyroll which is owned by Otter Media. However it is not part of Amazon Channels which could explain the decision to launch Anime Strike. The best part is that you don’t have to wait for anime releases as what is shown in Japan will also be shown on Anime Strike on the same day.
Titles that subscribers can look forward to include The Great Passage, Scum’s Wish, and Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, just to name a few. In terms of availability, Anime Strike is expected to roll out later this year but no date has been set yet, but subscribers can expect a 7-day free trial that they can take part in before deciding to spend their money.
