We know that Sony has confirmed their presence at the event, and last we heard it was rumored that there would be at least two Sony phones announced. However the latest rumors say that there will actually be four, one of which is the Sony “Yoshino” that will feature a 5.5-inch 4K display and is powered by the Snapdragon 835.
Now color us skeptical but the last time Sony attempted a phone with a 4K display was back in 2015 with the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, although there was a catch and that is that the display was not always shown in 4K and would switch back and forth between Full HD depending on the situation and task at hand.
Plus we have also heard the rumors that Samsung could have snatched up all the available Snapdragon 835s, and if that’s true we’re not sure how Sony plans on getting them. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if Sony manages to launch a “true” 4K display with a Snapdragon 835 chipset, they could be giving Samsung and the other OEMs a run for their money.
