If you’ve ever wanted to go through a lot of CIA records, well, now you can. There hasn’t been a massive leak, mind you, the Central Intelligence Agency has put almost 12 million pages of its declassified records online. Anyone with an internet connection can now easily access those records. These records span five decades of intelligence reports and briefings that were once classified and hidden from the public.
There are some very interesting records in the database including but not limited to reports on UFO sightings, discussions about assassinating Fidel Castro as well as the gruesome details of Nazi war crimes.
The CIA was ordered by President Bill Clinton back in 1995 to declassify secret documents that were more than 25 years old and happened to have “historical value.” The CIA didn’t make these archives available until 2000 and that too only through four computers at the U.S. National Archives in College Park, Maryland between select hours.
The is the first time that the CIA is making its database known as CREST or CIA Records Search Tool online. All you need now is an internet connection to read those declassified documents from anywhere in the world. There are some very interesting reports in there so do check it out, perhaps you might find something that sparks your imagination.
