If you might recall, last week there was a teaser invite sent out by Xiaomi that seemed to tease that the company has a new product that they plan on announcing. The invite seemed to hint that it could be some kind of electric vehicle, and we speculated at that time that it would most likely be a scooter or bike as opposed to a car.
Turns out we were right as Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off the Mi Electric Scooter. The design of the scooter itself is pretty standard and doesn’t look something we haven’t seen before. However it is electric-powered meaning that you could potentially go faster and use less energy.
The Mi electric scooter features a foldable design that makes it easy to transport, and weighs 12.5kg. Granted it’s not exactly something you can hoist on your shoulders or tuck under your arm and walk for extended periods of time, but it’s relatively light enough to be transported by hand. It comes with an LED front light, a top speed of 25kmph, a battery that’s capable of a range of about 30km, and a dual-brake system with the front wheel sporting E-ABS anti-locking brakes, while the rear wheel uses mechanical disc brakes.
As for pricing, the Mi electric scooter is relatively cheap at RMB 1,999. It will be available for purchase come 15th of December, but unfortunately it does not seem like there are plans to sell it stateside for now.
