There’s a reason why jobs like chat or forum moderators exist. It is because more often than not, people are better at catching other people who try to slip past the system or get around certain moderation tools. However if you don’t have the need or resources to maintain moderators on your Twitch stream, not to worry.
Twitch has recently announced a new tool called AutoMod. As the name implies, this tool will help to moderate your chats automatically. What happens is that AutoMod acts as the first barrier of defense against categories that you want it to keep an eye on. After which messages that are flagged are then sent to moderators who will then review it and choose whether to delete it or to let it through.
According to Twitch, “When AutoMod flags a message, it lets the original sender know that moderators will review the message’s content before it’s sent to chat. Meanwhile the message is shown to moderators, giving them a chance to accept or reject the message.” This is a better system than mods having to chase after messages after they have been posted, which by then might be too late as the damage has already been done.
AutoMod is already live so if you are a Twitch streamer looking to protect your channel and chats, you’ll find it in the channel’s settings page.
