A lot of figures have been floating around recently about the number of times Super Mario Run was downloaded and how much revenue it brought in for Nintendo in the first few days. The company has released some numbers of its own today and they are impressive. Nintendo has confirmed that Super Mario Run was downloaded 40 million times in the first four days since the game was exclusively released for iOS devices.
Nintendo has confirmed today in a press release that Super Mario Run was downloaded more than 40 million times on iOS devices during the first four days of its availability on the App Store. It has broken the App Store record for the number of downloads in that time span.
The fact that Super Mario Run had a global launch helped the figures. The game was released in 140 different countries simultaneously and with iOS devices being used by hundreds of millions of people across the globe, it’s not hard to imagine how it reached more than 40 million downloads in just four days.
The game itself is free to download but players can only play a couple of levels before they’re asked to pay $9.99 to unlock the entire game. While Nintendo is confirming how many times the game was downloaded in its first week, it’s not saying anything about the revenue generated by collecting this fee from players who were willing to pay $10 to access the full game.
