samsung logoSo far we have heard quite a few rumors regarding the hardware features of the upcoming Galaxy S8 from Samsung. However in terms of software, not much is known on that front and what kind of software features we might be able to expect. However thanks to a trademark filing spotted by Galaxyclub.nl, we might have an idea.

According to the trademark filing, it seems that Samsung has filed a trademark for the term “Beast Mode”. Now this could be for just about anything, but given that the paperwork for the filing is related to mobile devices, it has led to speculation that it could be an upcoming feature on the Galaxy S8.

We have seen Samsung’s plans at potentially changing the name of its Android UI from “TouchWiz” to the “Samsung Experience”, so perhaps this “Beast Mode” feature could be part of it. While it is unclear as to what it does, we can only imagine that it will have something to do with boosting the performance of the phone.

So far Samsung’s flagships never had any trouble with performance, but perhaps “Beast Mode” could be a way for Samsung to overclock its CPU or GPU to allow it to run at faster speeds, or to support higher-quality VR content. Either way it sounds pretty exciting and we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for more details in the future.
