The OnePlus 3T, the Galaxy S7 Edge, and the Pixel XL are some of the flagship smartphones released in 2016, and as such they are equipped with some of the latest and most high-end hardware components. So the question is, which of these phones is the fastest? The folks at PhoneBuff decided to find out in a new speed test.
Note that the Galaxy S7 Edge was released earlier this year, while the OnePlus 3T and Pixel XL were released a few months ago and both are powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset, the latest chipset offered by Qualcomm to manufacturers this year. So that means in theory both phones should be faster than the Galaxy S7 Edge, right?
Yup that’s pretty much the case as PhoneBuff discovered. In their findings, the OnePlus 3T finished the test they put it through in 1 minute and 30 seconds, while the Pixel XL came in second at 1 minute 36 seconds. The Galaxy S7 Edge unfortunately lagged pretty far behind and finished at 1 minute 55 seconds.
The second lap did not seem to do the Galaxy S7 Edge any favors. The 6GB of RAM on the OnePlus 3T really allowed it to breeze through and completed the second lap in 1 minute 53 seconds, while the Pixel XL too 2 minutes 57 seconds. The Galaxy S7 Edge was unfortunately very, very far behind at 3 minutes 51 seconds.
Take what you will away from this test but at the end of the day, there’s more to a smartphone than just speed. However if speed is a priority then it is clear who is the winner in this lineup.
