‘OK Google’ Now Enabled For Android Auto

Earlier this month it was revealed that Google would soon be implementing “OK Google” functionality to Android Auto. Basically this works the same way as the version for Android in which by saying “OK Google”, it’ll bring up the voice assistant and you can ask it a bunch of questions or have it do certain things for you.

The good news is that it looks like the functionality is finally here according to a post on Google+. This is great news for drivers since the idea of having a smart infotainment system is that you won’t need to use your hands to control it, even when it comes to adjusting certain things like volume, media playback controls, and more.

Given that last month Google announced that Android Auto would no longer require users to have a new car or a new stereo unit, this functionality makes even more sense for users who plan on using Android Auto with their smartphone. This also makes it safer when driving since simple actions such as adjusting the volume knob or changing radio stations can cause accidents if you don’t pay attention to the road.

The feature should already be enabled so if you’re an Android Auto user, this is something worth checking out.
