Super Mario Run represents a pretty big leap forwards for Nintendo and their mobile gaming efforts. While it isn’t the company’s first mobile title, it is the first time we are officially seeing Mario arrive on mobile devices. However if there is one thing holding the game back, it would be its exorbitant price tag of $10 to unlock all the levels.
Interestingly enough it seems that maybe Nintendo could be thinking that they might have made a mistake because according to MacRumors, Nintendo has sent out a survey to gamers. One of the questions asked in the 10-minute long survey is how much they are willing to pay for the game, which we reckon is a bit too late, but we guess Nintendo is planning on using the results to help price future titles.
Interestingly enough the survey also asks if gamers would be interested if there were to be a sequel. Note that these survey questions don’t necessarily indicate Nintendo’s future plans for Super Mario Run, so it would be wrong to assume that a sequel is being worked on. If anything we reckon that’s pretty far from the truth because as it stands, Nintendo has other mobile titles they have announced, such as Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing, that they have yet to release.
In any case despite the gripes of the $10 price tag, Super Mario Run is said to have managed to pull $5 million in revenue on its first day. Nintendo has also recently confirmed that the game has been downloaded 40 million times during its first four days of availability. As it stands the game is still an iOS exclusive and is expected to arrive on Android in 2017.
