According to a report from CNET, it seems that Motorola has plans to launch at least 12 Moto Mods a year, starting in 2017. This means that we can look forward to, on average, of at least 3 Moto Mods per quarter. According to John Touvannas, Lenovo’s Moto Mods director, “Our goal is to get more Mods out this year than we did last year, no question.”
Unfortunately Motorola did not dive any deeper into the types of Moto Mods that we can look forward to, but the company did state that they were interested in camera technology. Last week we heard that Motorola more or less confirmed that the Tango phone’s camera tech could eventually be a Moto Mod.
Stephen McDonnell, senior manager of the Moto Mods Ecosystem said, “The mods are putting new sensors into phone. When you attach a JBL speaker to your phone, that’s your phone’s speaker now.” No word on when the new mods will drop, but CES/MWC 2016 does seem like a good platform for any kind of announcement.
