Microsoft released the Surface Pro 4 in October last year and even though it’s a pretty powerful computer it’s due for a refresh. While Microsoft hasn’t confirmed when the successor will be out, a new report claims to leak Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs. As is the case with a new iteration of any product, we can expect Microsoft Surface Pro 5 to come with improved internals and perhaps some minor changes to the design as well.
According to the report, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs include Intel Kaby Lake processors, the ability to select up to 512GB of SSD storage, USB Type-C and Thunderbolt ports as well as a new Surface Pen that’s capable of charging wirelessly through a magnetic charging dock bundled with the Surface Pro 5.
Rumor has it that the Surface Pro 5 display resolution may be bumped up to 4K considering the fact that Intel’s Kaby Lake architecture does have native 4K support, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Microsoft will do this. Take this particular bit of leaked information with a healthy dose of salt for now.
Additional Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs might include a fingerprint scanner built into the display itself. The device may come with the latest Windows 10 major update when it’s released. Microsoft hasn’t confirmed as yet when it’s going to release the Surface Pro 5 but rumor has it that the device will be out at some point in the first quarter of 2017.
