Late last month, it seemed that customers were finally able to pre-order the 5K LG UltraFine display. It was originally set to begin shipping to customers in 6-8 weeks but unfortunately if you were a bit slow on the trigger, you might have to end up waiting much longer because according to 9to5Mac, the displays have since been delayed.
LG has confirmed to the website that the displays have been delayed, or more specifically the 5K models have been delayed and right now there are no confirmed dates regarding their availability yet. The initial announcement saw LG state December as release, but we guess things have changed since then. For those who don’t mind the smaller 4K displays, those have already begun shipping out to customers.
It is unclear as to what this delay means because Apple’s website no longer allows users to pre-order it. Given that Apple has discounted the displays by as much as 25% which has dropped its pricing down to $974, customers won’t be able to take advantage of it and this offer is only valid until the end of the year.
Either this means that the displays will become available by then, or they’ll only be available in 2017 in which the discount will no longer be offered. If that is the case, hopefully Apple will consider extending it to make up for the lost time.
