Internet Browsing On Gear VR Is Now More Immersive

Samsung today announced that it has released a new version of its Samsung Internet browser for the Gear VR headset. It’s a web browser that the company has optimized for use in virtual reality. Samsung says that the latest version makes internet browsing on the Gear VR more immersive than ever before. It also brings new features that provide users with greater control over the experience.

Change Background is a new feature included in the latest version of Samsung Internet for Gear VR. It enables users to change the background of their VR space with premium images provided by OTOY, a graphics company.

These vivid scenes add depth to users’ browsing in virtual reality. Samsung promises that this will provide a more immersive browsing experience when used in conjunction with the Skybox feature that was previously added, Skybox allows websites to set their own backgrounds with 360-degree images.

The latest version of Samsung Internet for Gear VR also comes with support for WebVR v1.0 which is an experimental JavaScript API that enables the browser to access the device’s VR features and allow users to experience 3D images on websites from multiple angles.

The new File Explorer feature makes it easy to browse and view images and videos stored on the mobile device or on a USB drive with the USB on-the-go support feature. The browser also has an on-screen keyboard featuring 11 languages as well as the ability to integrated Bluetooth devices like gamepads, mice, and keyboards.

Samsung Internet for Gear VR is now available as a free download from the Oculus Store.
