Instagram has seen monumental growth over the past couple of years and it continues to grow at a rapid pace. The company today announced that it has crossed a significant milestone which showcases how it continues to growth even though it has to compete with rivals like Snapchat. Facebook-owned Instagram today confirmed that it has crossed 600 million monthly active users. That’s a significant achievement.
Instagram points out that 100 million additional users have joined in the past six months alone. That’s true, given that the company announced it had crossed 500 million monthly active users earlier this year in June. This goes to show just how fast Instagram’s star continues to rise.
Since then, a lot of changes have been made to the way Instagram functions. New features such as Instagram Stories have been introduced, alongside the ability to broadcast live video and send disappearing photos and videos in Direct.
Instagram has also made improvements to its safety tools, enabling users to filter comments– by words or phrases and exercise more control over comments on their posts. It promises to continue working to make the community safer than ever for connection and self-expression.
Instagram will certainly want to go only up from here and it will be interesting to see how it swings that, on to the next 600 million users.
