Imgur is a platform that many users are familiar with as a place where users can upload images, find GIFs, and all kinds of memes. It is especially popular amongst the Reddit community where until recently, users had to rely on external sites to host their images and Imgur was one of the more popular options available.
That being said, it seems that Imgur wants to be known as more than just an image hosting website because in an announcement, the company has revealed that they will be adding a chat feature to its mobile app. This means that not only can users browse the website for images, but they will also be able to chat with other Imgur users at the same time.
According to Imgur, “Chat allows you to easily send GIFs, posts, emoji, and, of course, messages to other Imgurians. There are several ways to start chatting: visit a user profile, chat via comment, tap the share icon, or head straight to the chat and search for a username.” The chat feature appears to be rather basic and straightforward, but for now it looks like it could be pretty fun.
In addition to this new feature, Imgur will also be updating its desktop messaging system. There will also be a new way to follow other Imgur users so that when they upload images, you will know. The features should already be live so head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the download.
