The Huawei Mate 9 is a robust new smartphone from the Chinese giant and it appears that the handset will soon be released in the United States officially. If a new leak is to be believed, the Huawei Mate 9 U.S. release has been set for January 6th, 2017. There’s no official word on this as yet so take this release date with a grain of salt for now.
The leak comes from the infamous Twitter leakster @evleaks who tweeted a render of this handset and said that it’s going to be officially released in the United States on January 6th. He has been right on many accounts in the past so his claims are worth noting.
It’s possible that the official Huawei Mate 9 U.S. release might be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2017. If you look closely at the renders you’ll see that they mentioned January 6th and Las Vegas. CES would be in town on those days so it makes perfect sense.
Huawei has already launched this handset internationally so it’s not like the phone itself is going to be a surprise for anybody. However, what people will be really interested in finding out would be whether the Mate 9 would receive any carrier subsidies once it has been officially launched in the United States.
The company isn’t confirming anything at this point in time. Fortunately, January 6th, 2017 is not that far off so we’ll find out for sure soon enough.
