Suicide Squad was one of the most hotly anticipated movies of this year and even though it received mix reviews, the film did a lot of business, pulling in more than $745 million gross across the globe. Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn was very well received so fans will be delighted to know that she will be gracing the big screen once again in the Gotham City Sirens film. The project has now been confirmed, it’s going to feature some of the most iconic female villains from the DC universe.
The project gets its name from a 2009 comic book created by Paul Dini and Guillem March, the comic book was all about female villains that Batman frequently went up against, such as Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn.
The Hollywood Reporter adds that the script is being penned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and that Robbie has been brought onboard to produce as well. David Ayer, who directed Suicide Squad, is said to be in the director’s chair for this film too.
While no release date has been set for the Gotham City Sirens film as yet, the report mentions that this project is being pushed ahead of the Suicide Squad sequel and a planned spinoff for Will Smith’s Deadshot character.
