Google Assistant On Allo Can Now Understand Hindi

While many companies might have initially focused their efforts on developed countries due to their spending power, the rise of India and China has led many companies to change up their strategy and focus on emerging markets. For example SwiftKey introduced a transliteration feature for their Hindi and Gurjarati users, and now it looks like Google is doing the same.

According to user reports, it seems that Google Assistant can now understand and offer back replies to users in Hindi. However there is a catch and that is the feature only seems to work for Google Assistant within the Allo messaging app. This means that if you try to use Hindi under normal circumstances with Google Assisant, it will not work, at least not yet.

Earlier this year when Allo first debuted, Google did promise that they would be bringing support for Hindi to the messaging platform before the end of the year, and it looks like with this update, they have indeed kept to their word. The update is being rolled out in stages over the course of the next few days as some users are claiming that they haven’t received it yet.
