Gionee is a smartphone brand that we have come across every now and then, and for the most part their offerings have been rather average and typical of smartphone OEMs. However it seems that the company has decided to shake things up a bit with the introduction with the Gionee M2017, a luxurious smartphone.
As you can see in the image above, the M2017 is definitely different from the rest of Gionee’s smartphone launches in the past as it looks more luxurious/refined. This is thanks to the combined usage of both leather and metal that gives off that classy look. However it is more than just a looker as its specs appear to be pretty impressive as well.
The M2017 will sport a 5.7-inch curved QHD AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM, and a base storage of 128GB. It comes with an 8MP front-facing camera, 12+13MP rear-facing cameras, and a whopping 7,000mAh battery that should last you quite a while. Unfortunately its processor under the hood is the Snapdragon 653 which is typically found in mid-range devices.
We’re not sure what possessed Gionee to use the Snapdragon 653 in what appears to be an excellent smartphone, but we guess they have their reasons. As it stands it is only available in the Chinese market and will be launched come 6th of January where it is priced at RMB 6,999 for the 128GB model, and 16,999 for the 256GB model.
