Samsung-Galaxy-S6-Edge-Plus-03We know that Samsung is already getting a lot of bad press over the Galaxy Note 7 exploding, but it seems that for some reason following those reports, we’ve started to hear reports of other Samsung phones apparently catching on fire too. In fact according to the latest report, it seems that a Galaxy S6 handset has exploded mid-flight.

We should point out that the Galaxy S6 is a phone from 2015. There has not been any issues regarding the phone, at least not in this capacity, so this could be an isolated incident. That being said, the report claims that the phone had exploded mid-flight aboard China Airlines flight CI027 heading to Taipei.

The owner of the phone reportedly suffered burns to his hands, but thankfully the quick actions from the flight crew managed to prevent it from turning into a bigger disaster. Let’s not forget that since the air in the airplane’s cabin has been pressurized, the fire could have spread pretty quickly if not tended to.

The phone was later placed in an ice bucket and the Aviation Safety Council in China has since put together an investigation team to look into the reason behind it, although like we said it is probably a one-off incident so if you own the Galaxy S6, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.
