Final Fantasy XV is a game that has been in the making for many, many years, so safe to say that many gamers were looking forward to its release. Turns out that the hype is indeed very real because in a tweet by Square Enix, the company revealed that Final Fantasy XV is the fastest-selling game in the series’ history.
According to the tweet, “FINAL FANTASY XV day one shipment and digital sales exceed 5 million units, becoming the fastest selling game in the history of the series!” However we should point out the language used here, which is that Square Enix mentioned “day one shipment”. This seems to indicate the number of copies sold to retailers and not units sold through to customers.
However we guess to a certain extent, the number of units sold to retailers could also be used as a gauge of demand for the game. Whether or not the retailers have sold through their stock remains to be seen, but basically things are certainly looking pretty positive in the moment, but we’ll definitely wait and see what the official numbers are which will hopefully be revealed in the next few months.
In the meantime have you guys gotten your hands on the game? And do you think that the game has been worth all the years of waiting?
