If latest reports are believed, Apple is expanding its partnership with its longtime manufacturing partner Foxconn for future growth in markets like China and Indonesia. Apple is reportedly looking to work with Foxconn as it wants to open up new research centers and wants to expand its business further into Southeast Asia.
Foxconn has been a contract manufacturer for Apple for more than a decade now so the companies already have a deep partnership. It’s the biggest contract manufacturer for the Cupertino company so they do have a strong relationship to launch any future projects from.
Apple’s presence in Indonesia is very limited but Foxconn started establishing its footing in the market several years ago. Chinese publication Economic Daily News reports that Apple has been talking to Foxconn for manufacturer’s assistance in Indonesia.
However, the publication doesn’t go into the specifics of what Foxconn will be able to provide Apple aside from the business arrangements and contacts that have already been forged between the companies and independent suppliers.
Apple has been particularly focusing on China as it seeks to continue growing in the coming years. It makes sense given that China is one of the most lucrative markets on the planet. It was reported earlier this year that Apple is opening its first research and development center in Zhongguancun Science Park, Beijing. The report mentioned that Apple will spend $15 million on this center and will hire up to 500 employees to work on Apple software and products.
