Rewind the clock a few years back and titles such as Angry Birds was some of the more popular titles available on mobile. Heck, it was so popular that the fact that it launched on Windows Phone was such a big deal that some speculated that it could even help attract users onto Microsoft’s mobile platform.However today the Angry Birds franchise isn’t what it used to be, but Rovio is still fighting the good fight and has recently announced (via PhoneArena) Angry Birds Blast!, an upcoming title that will be launched in the coming days. As you can see in the image above, Angry Birds Blast! is not your typical Angry Birds game.
It seems to be a blocks-based game where you’ll have to match the colors in order to destroy it. This reminds us of other titles such as Candy Crush Saga or even Bejeweled, except that it is based on the Angry Birds franchise. Rovio’s description reads, “Solve puzzles, and pop pigs in a whole heap of levels full of bright bouncy balloons, balloon-bursting boosters, and bountiful bad guys.”
As expected there will be in-app purchases and microtransactions, but Rovio states that if you were to sign up to be notified of the game’s release, you’ll be given $9.99 worth of in-game gold for free.
