It appears that AMD is in the process of launching a new powerful graphics card in the near future. A listing has been spotted at an online retailer for the AMD Radeon RX 490 graphics card which mentions that it’s going to be released in the second half of this year. We’re already in December so if that really is the case this means that the Radeon RX 490 will be coming out soon.
The AMD Radeon RX 490 is believed to be the fastest graphics card in the Radeon RX 400 series. According to reports, it’s capable of running top-tier games at up to 4K resolution and will even be able to power virtual reality games.
However, it’s unclear right now whether this graphics card is going to be based on the company’s Vega or Polaris GPU architecture, even though it’s expected to be included in the Radeon RX 400 series.
The listing also mentions that this graphics card has support for Crossfire but it doesn’t reveal if it’s a dual-chip or single-chip card. AMD’s dual-chip cards tend to have support for Crossfire as well.
AMD hasn’t confirmed anything at this point in time but the company has scheduled an event for December 13th where it’s also going to show off the next-generation Zen CPU. Perhaps the Radeon RX490 might find itself on the agenda come December 13th.
