Amazon launched the first Echo speaker about a year back. It’s just like most Bluetooth speakers with the only difference being that it’s powered by Alexa, Amazon’s robust digital personal assistant, which can accomplish thousands of tasks on a simple voice command. Amazon since expanded the Echo line but if you’re looking to buy one ahead of the holidays, you’re out of luck.
All three Echo products, the Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Tap, are sold out on Amazon. The company sells them online and the products are listed as out of stock. The online store page mentions that they won’t be back in stock until after Christmas so if you were planning to buy one as a gift for someone, you have another thing coming. The standard black Amazon Echo may not be back in stock until January 19th!
The company also sells the Echo through some conventional retailers such as Lowes and Best Buy. Most of their locations have sold out of the Echo as well so it’s definitely not going to be easy to come across one if you absolutely need to buy an Amazon Echo ahead of the holidays.
Amazon is aware that the Echo is hard to come by right now, it tells The Wall Street Journal that “Due to demand, we encourage customers to purchase an Echo if they see it available,” the assumption here being that customers will be able to find it anywhere.
