According to a recently discovered patent, it seems that Amazon is envisioning a possible future in which they own a blimp which doubles up as a flying warehouse, and at the same time the blimp can deploy drones carrying purchases made by customers and have them deliver them to the customer’s address.
These blimps are dubbed “airborne fulfillment centers” and according to the patent, they are expected to be positioned at locations where Amazon predicts demand for particular items could spike. So imagine if a sporting event were going on, the blimp could be positioned nearby so that customers could order all kinds of things such as food, drinks, sports merchandize, and the likes, and have it all delivered in a matter of minutes.
We have to say that it is probably one of the crazier ideas that Amazon has had over the years, but considering how much the company has grown and the areas that they have ventured into, we wouldn’t be completely surprised if this eventually becomes a reality.
