Despite the fact that it looks kind of silly and its expensive price tag, the reviews of Apple’s AirPods are actually largely positive. Many who were worried it would fall out during use seemed convinced that it won’t, and those who were skeptical about its pairing capabilities were pleasantly surprised.
So much so that it isn’t surprising that stock is running low at the moment. However according to DigiTimes, they are quoting Chinese newspaper Economic Daily News who reported that the AirPods’ manufacturer, Inventec, is apparently looking to expand their production capacity in order to meet the demand for the headphones.
At the moment it is unclear as to how many units have been ordered to begin with, which means that the current shortages could either be due to high popularity, or low inventory. Assuming it is the latter, it makes sense for Inventec to expand their production to meet demand, but whether or not this demand can be sustained to justify new production lines remains to be seen.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has called the AirPods a runaway success, but like we said the official numbers have yet to be revealed so exactly how much of a success remains unclear, but for now things are certainly looking up for the Cupertino company.
