Sounds great in theory, but in real-life some users are apparently experiencing quite severe battery drain with the charging cases. According to some user reports, they are claiming that the charging case dropped by 40% in mere hours, despite the fact that the AirPods inside are fully charged and have minimal Bluetooth activation.
While it seems that Apple is unclear as to why some cases are losing their charge so fast, the good news is that if you take them in you should be able to get a replacement. Redditor severinskulls wrote that the issues with the case losing its charge rapidly was pretty much gone after he had gotten a replacement unit.
We have to wonder if this issue could be linked to a teardown of the case by iFixit last week, in which they revealed “voids” within the solder joints of the case’s chip, but in any case like we said, if you are experiencing abnormally fast battery drain, you should probably take it in to be looked at.
