Earlier this month there was a rumor that NVIDIA could have a new SHIELD Android TV planned for next year. Now thanks to the folks at Android Police, they have managed to get their hands on images of the alleged device that gives us a pretty good idea of what we might be able to expect.
From what we can tell, for the most part there does not appear to be any major design changes made to the device or its remote. There appears to be some green highlights on the Android TV box but otherwise it looks similar to its predecessor. The control also appears to have remained unchanged.
The only major change we can see is to the gamepad which in terms of layout is the same, except that it looks more “edgy” thanks to its more geometric design. The circular nature of the D-pad is also gone but we reckon it shouldn’t play too differently from the previous design. Other than that it looks the same.
No word on what kind of specs we might be able to expect, but it has been suggested that it could be launched in at least two sizes. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but maybe we’ll get more information come CES 2017 in January next year.
