Earlier this year it was reported that the game had been pushed to 2017 to sync with the Switch’s release, but a report from Arcadegirl64 has revealed that the game might be delayed beyond March 2017. Apparently this has less to do with the development of the game itself, but rather the localization, in which apparently the process isn’t moving as smoothly as they had hoped.
The report also claims that the game was more ambitious than what was previously planned, hence the localization issues. Instead it seems that instead of March 2017, we might be looking at a release in the summer of 2017 which will no doubt affect how many units the Switch will be selling at the start.
One of the criticisms of the Wii U was the lack of titles for the platform, and it took a while before popular first-party titles like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros found its way onto the platform. We’re really hoping that Nintendo will be able to avoid similar delays with the Switch, but if these rumors are true then no doubt it doesn’t bode too well for the company, but until we hear otherwise do take it with a grain of salt for now.
