The Xbox Holiday Update is now being rolled out to all Xbox One owners across the globe. It brings a handful of new features such as Clubs, Achievement Rarity, Group Messaging, Looking for Group, and more. This update makes Xbox Live more social as gamers are united across devices and builds upon the company’s vision to provide a welcoming experience on Xbox Live. These features have been in preview for some time now so Xbox owners will be excited to know that they are finally being released.
Clubs are groups created and managed by gamers that help them meet people and grow their communities of fellow gamers who have the same interests as they do. Creating a Club is very easy, members of the Club are able to set up parties, share content, play games, and easily communicate using voice and text chat with Club across Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS, and Android. Existing Clubs can be found in the Community tab on Xbox One while Clubs associated with a game will be accessible through the Game Hub for that title.
Looking for Group helps players find other players that they want to game with. This feature can be used to complete daily quests, Achievement hunts, and more. Users will be able to add a few requirements to ensure that they only find the right gamers. They can specify the game, game mode, language, the number of people required, and more.
Achievement Rarity was a top fan request, it helps players discover just how unique an Achievement is among players of a particular game. When they earn a rare Achievement they will receive a special notification and a diamond icon highlighting the fact.
As the name suggests, the Group Messaging feature lets Xbox One owners stay in touch with their family and friends by sending a group message to everyone in a single conversation. This feature works on Xbox One as well as the Xbox apps for Windows, iOS, and Android. Emojis for the Xbox One virtual keyboard are a fun little addition to this update.
