If the Nintendo Switch were to succeed, there are several things that it needs to get right. One of those factors would be price. Now Nintendo did state that they will not be selling the Switch at a loss, meaning that if you were hoping for low prices you could be disappointed. Now thanks to Let’s Play Video Games, potential pricing might have been revealed.
According to the report, it seems that over in the UK, local gaming retailer GAME will be pricing their Nintendo Switch consoles starting at £199.99. However as the publication points out, this pricing is determined by GAME themselves and it isn’t set by Nintendo, which means that in other markets where pricing might be more tightly controlled, it could be priced differently.
However it does give us an indication as to how much Nintendo could be valuing the console, or at least roughly. The report goes on to claim that there will be a bundle offering which comes with a higher storage console and a game that will go for £199.99, £50 more than the base unit, but it is unclear which title will be bundled at this time.
So what does this mean for gamers in the US? According to the report, Nintendo is apparently planning a direct conversion, meaning that it will cost about $250 in the US for the basic unit, and $300 for the bundle. Once again we’re not sure if that’s true so take it with a grain of salt for now.
