Twitch Wants To Show Users More (Better Quality) Ads

twitch-ao-banThe thing about turning to third-party platforms for ads is that you never know what kind of quality you’ll be getting. Now ads are pretty much a staple of all free (and sometimes paid) services on the internet, including Twitch, and how these ads are displayed can affect the user experience which is why Twitch has announced SureStream.

According to Twitch, “We are dedicated to making the advertising experience on Twitch mutually beneficial for all parts of the Twitch ecosystem. Today we’re taking a big next step by starting a gradual rollout of SureStream, new video technology that brings more of the ad delivery experience under our control so that we can optimize it in ways that benefit the entire community.”

So what is SureStream and how does it differ from ads from before? Basically SureStream is controlled by Twitch, meaning that the quality of ads will be more consistent. They will also be able to play seamlessly without pausing or freezing which can interrupt your viewing experience. As for partnered streamers, Twitch claims that this will provide a more reliable source of income.

This is because ad blockers will apparently no longer work when it comes to blocking SureStream ads. That being said if you’d rather not see ads at all, you’ll just have to pay for a subscription.
