As some of you guys might have heard by now, a reboot to the Tomb Raider movie franchise is in the works starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft. For those who are wondering what the story about the reboot will be, or whether it will throw us directly into an adventure like it did with the original Tomb Raider movie, wonder no more.In an interview with HeyUGuys, the movie’s Producer Graham King said, “Well this is kind of what we call a ‘back to the roots story’. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and i think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it. I think the storytelling is really good and i think we’ve got the right crew and a great director and I think it’s going to be really fun making a film like this”.
Prior to this, the earlier Tomb Raider movies did try and broach the topic about Lara Croft’s father, but from what we can tell it seems that the upcoming movie is expected to dive deeper into the subject. We are also wondering if this will be more of an action-based movie or if it will adopt the tone set forth in the rebooted video game franchise which is decidedly more sombre.
That being said, we are still quite a ways from seeing the actual movie. It has been set for a release on the 16th of March, 2018, so we’ve got some waiting to do. In the meantime how do you guys feel about the current storyline?
