When Respawn Entertainment was formed and Titanfall was first announced, many were excited because the company’s co-founders were from Infinite Ward who helped create and develop the Call of Duty franchise. Safe to say many were looking forward to see how their wealth of experience would apply to the new franchise under EA’s banner.So far reviews of both Titanfall and Titanfall 2 have been great, but unfortunately EA’s decision to launch Titanfall 2 between the release of Battlefield 1 and Activision’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare meant that sales was not as good as it could have been, which seems to have cast some doubt on the franchise’s future.
Speaking in an interview with Glixel, Respawn’s Vince Zampella seemed a little uncertain about how they would proceed. “We don’t know yet. The game is, critically, a huge success. We’re really happy with all the reviews and the positive sentiment. Sales, it’s too early to tell. We’d definitely like to tell more of the story and the universe. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that we’ll explore more of it.”
As for EA, the company has stated that they are remaining committed to the franchise, but beyond that they had nothing else to offer. Given Titanfall 2’s recent release we guess it’s too early to be talking about a sequel, so we guess we’ll just to wait and see. In the meantime what did you guys think of Titanfall 2?
