One of the features of the Apple Watch is Apple Pay, in which thanks to the built-in NFC chip, wearers of the device can use their device to make payments where Apple Pay is already being accepted. Unfortunately that is feature that has been missing from Android Pay for a while now, and this is mostly due to software support as the hardware is already there.
However according to the folks at Android Police, it seems that they have come across some signs to suggest that tap to pay could be coming to Android Wear soon. This is according to the latest teardown of the Google Play services in which it was discovered there were several strings that made reference to tap to pay.
As Android Police notes, this is not the first time that tap to pay has been hinted at in Google Play services, but this is apparently the first time that text has actually shown up, whereas previously the mentions to the feature was only in name. This seems to suggest that we could be getting closer to its launch.
Of course there’s no guarantee that it will be released in Google Play services 10.0, but like we said, it does seem to suggest that we could be getting closer to a launch. Exactly how this works remains to be seen, but we reckon it’ll probably be similar to what we saw with the Apple Watch.
