Nintendo announced a new game at Apple’s iPhone 7 event back in September. The company says that the game – Super Mario Run – is “the first-ever mobile game featuring the most iconic video game hero of all time.” The game was demonstrated by the creator of Mario himself, Shigeru Miyamoto. Nintendo promised to provide a confirmed release date later this year. Today, the company has confirmed the Super Mario Run iOS release date.
Super Mario Run is exclusive to iOS initially, it’s compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 or higher. It’s the first game that has been developed just for mobile devices. Mario runs forward on his own in this game but relies on the tap of a single finger to jump over obstacles, pull off some cool moves, avoid enemies, collect coins, and reach the flagpole to complete courses.
It’s going to be available as a free download from the App Store. Players will be able to try elements of the game’s three modes for free. They will then have to make a one-time payment of $9.99 to get unlimited access to each of the three modes in Super Mario Run.
Super Mario Run is going to be released in the United States as well as an additional 150 countries and regions on December 15th. It will support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese languages. It’s going to be released for Android in 2017.
