Following leaked artwork from the other day, it looks like Overwatch’s latest character has been officially introduced in the form of Sombra. Players of Overwatch have known that this has been a long time coming, but it’s nice to see the character unveiled in all of her glory. Blizzard has even released an animated short to accompany the release which you can check out above.
According to Blizzard’s description of the character, “Stealth and debilitating attacks make Sombra a powerful infiltrator. Her hacking can disrupt her enemies, ensuring they’re easier to take out, while her EMP provides the upper hand against multiple foes at once. Sombra’s ability to Translocate and camouflage herself makes her a hard target to pin down.”
Sombra will come with 5 different abilities: the Machine Pistol that allows her to fire in a short-range spread. There is also the “Hack” ability that lets the character temporarily stop enemies from using their abilities, or even first aid kits that makes them useless. “Thermoptic Camo” is another ability that lets Sombra turn invisible for a short period of time, and also boost her speed considerably.
Sombra also has a “Translocator” feature which is a beacon that she can throw out and return to it while it is active. Last but not least is the “EMP” ability that destroys barriers and shields and hacks all enemies caught in the blast. As for a release date, we don’t know about that yet but Sombra will be available on the PTR for testing next week.
