Following the reveal, Bethesda themselves said that they couldn’t confirm what titles would be available, and Nintendo themselves said that the trailer did not necessarily represent actual game footage, all of which seems to suggest that maybe Skyrim would not be available. However thanks to a new report from Let’s Play Video Games, there could be a glimmer of hope.
According to the report, author Laura Dale claims to have heard from a couple of sources that Skyrim will indeed be one of the games launched alongside the Switch in 2017. It will be Skyrim Special Edition, which means that it will be the same remastered version that was recently released on PC and consoles, and it is expected to eventually gain mod support as well.
Assuming this is true, this is great news because while first-party titles are Nintendo’s strong suit, gamers do like having some variety and having some triple A titles (even if they are old) available at launch from third-party developers would be welcome. That being said, take it with a grain of salt, but more details will be revealed in January 2017.
