In case you’re wondering what is single sign-on and why it is such a big deal, basically everytime you download a new streaming app on your Apple TV or iOS device, you will have to enter your account credentials which can be rather troublesome if you’re trying to use it across multiple devices.
With single sign-on, the idea is to use your current cable credentials as a way to log into existing apps. For example if you’re subscribed to HBO via your TV provider, you will be able to use those credentials to sign into your HBO Now, as well as apps from basic cable channels. This will save users a ton of time in the process.
However like we said the feature is still in beta, but we guess the good news is that at the very least it is being tested out. There is no word on when the tvOS and iOS 10 betas will be ready for the general public, but hopefully it won’t be too long.
