Samsung Reportedly Hesitating In Launching Foldable Smartphones

We’ve heard a lot of rumors over the past couple of years that Samsung is working on foldable smartphones to truly set itself apart in the high-end segment. It was said that Samsung was interested in bringing such devices to market as growth in the high-end segment stagnates and it seeks to push through that by offering a unique product. A new report claims Samsung is hesitating in launching its foldable smartphones.

A new report from South Korea claims that Samsung is worried about there not being enough demand for a foldable handset which is one of the reasons why it hasn’t come out with one yet. It’s not sure whether the device is going to sell as impressively as it might want to.

That’s a valid concern given that there aren’t really any proper foldable smartphones available on the market right now. It’s going to be a completely unique product and it remains to be seen how customers respond to this idea.

An industry source mentioned in the report also claims that following the disaster that Samsung has gone through with the Galaxy Note 7, the Korean conglomerate is now more cautious in launching devices with new hardware features.

Samsung has dozens of patents related to foldable smartphones in its vault and industry analysts already believe that it’s capable of mass producing these devices. However, if the company is not willing to take this leap of faith so soon after the Galaxy Note 7 ended up in flames, we might have to keep waiting for its foldable smartphone.
