Regardless of what it is, Samsung is still the company responsible and in the US, it seems that Samsung has gone the good old fashioned way of issuing an apology by taking out several full-page apology ads in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
The apology in each of the ads were signed by Gregory Lee, the president and CEO of Samsung Electronics in North America. It reads, “An important tenet of our mission is to offer best-in-class safety and quality. Recently, we fell short on this promise. For this we are truly sorry. We will re-examine every aspect of the device, including all hardware, software, manufacturing and the overall battery structure. We will move as quickly as possible, but will take the time needed to get the right answers.”
The company has previously issued apologies via a video message, and recently Samsung executives in China knelt down to apologize, although many felt that this was rather inappropriate given that in Chinese culture, kneeling is meant for other things, and apologies aren’t one of them.
