The PlayStation 4 has outsold the Xbox One ever since both consoles were released back in 2013 though Microsoft has been able to claw back the lead for its console at least for a few months in the United States. However, it was Sony’s console that remained the clear winner on Cyber Monday, the first Monday after Thanksgiving which is now an online shopping event in the country.
Data-tracking company Adobe Digital Insights reveals that the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling product online on Cyber Monday 2016 and thus outselling the Xbox One in the process.
Even though its rival performed better on Cyber Monday, Microsoft’s Xbox One holds second place on that list. Both of these products outsold merchandise like 4K TVs from Samsung, iPads and Amazon’s Fire devices combined. This goes to show just how many people would buy a console if a good enough discount was offered on it.
The Xbox One is actually reported to have outsold the PlayStation 4 on Black Friday but Sony’s console is still believed to be ahead for the month of November. It has outsold the Xbox One overall this month.
Adobe predicted yesterday that Cyber Monday 2016 online sales are going to top $3.36 billion, making it the biggest online shopping day ever. Now that the shopping frenzy is over, customers can expect the prices to climb back up at least for a few weeks until Christmas deals are announced.
