Philips Finally Adds iPad Support To Its Hue App

For some reason and for the longest time ever, the Philips Hue app was not supported on the iPad. Instead the app was only supported on mobile devices, which meant that iPad users looking to control their Hue connected lights would have to rely on third-party apps to do so, which in some cases actually proved to be a better alternative.

However if you’d much prefer to use the official app, you’ll be pleased to learn that Philips has recently pushed out an update to its Hue app that finally adds iPad support. This means that iPad users will now be able to use the official app on their iPad instead of third-party options, but like we said, some third-party apps have proved to be pretty good so whether or not users want to make the switch remains to be seen.

In addition to the added iPad support, the latest update to the app introduces 3D Touch support for the iPhone. This means that by hard pressing on the icon on their home screen, iPhone users will be able to quickly access the widgets without having to launch the app itself. Given that it probably shouldn’t take users more than a minute to turn their lights on and off, the support for 3D Touch is welcome.
